M57 (NGC 6720) (planetary nebula) The Ring Nebula in Lyra is the best known of the planetary nebula, although its small size makes it less prominent than others. The 14.8 magnitude central star is clearly obserable only in large scopes. Distance estimates range from 2021-2543 light years from Earth.
